Linda's Favorite Hand Sanitizer Gel
2 oz spray or flip-top bottle (60 ml)
54 ml pure aloe gel
6 ml essential oils - there are about 20 drops per ml. (Citrus Quench is our favorite blend)
1 drop GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) optional
(Refrigerate when not in use to increase shelf life)
We figure that you need roughly 10% essential oil for an effective antibacterial sanitizer with no alcohol content, although that might vary depending on the essential oil used. This is not a recommendation nor is it a scientifically derived estimate. I can't remember where I originally read this information, but if I find it, I'll be sure to post it!
1. I just discovered a 'deodorant' that really works for me. I use Lymphatic Cleanse and Aloe Vera gel. I squirt some gel into my palm, add several drops of Lymphatic Cleanse blend, mix and coat my underarms and other lymph areas. This is very comfortable on large areas of skin. I let the gel dry before dressing. I'm so happy for a cheap, simple and beneficial deodorant that really works! - Cynthia
2. Yesterday we were at the park, and when we weren't looking, our 2 year old took his shoes off. All of a sudden we heard horrific screams coming from him. He had walked onto the "safety mat" on the playground and his feet were being burned. He couldn't figure out how to get off of the mat. His big sister ran over and picked him up. We quickly put his feet in some very cold water for about 20-30 minutes. I put some Lavender on as soon as we got in the car, but he screamed the whole 45 minutes home. He had first and second degree burns over the bottoms of both feet. As soon as we got home, we put Aloe Vera gel on his feet and covered them with non-stick pads. We changed the dressing several times last night and did one final dressing before bedtime. This morning the blisters had drained and the first degree burns were mostly healed up. We dressed it again with Aloe Vera and non stick pads, and he was able to take a few steps. It has been amazing to see how fast he has healed. I am so thankful to the Lord that we have been given the resources to help our bodies heal. - RaShell
Potassium sorbate has been generally recognized as safe for use in foods and personal care products. It has been cleared as a food preservative by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration based on extensive testing. Potassium sorbate is well-tolerated in most people, being easily metabolized. Allergic reactions are rare.
